Dreaming Flowers

Yogi mentioned that she thought my lst canvas was calling out for some calligraphy.
I have NO calligraphy skill, but I had been thinking along those same lines.

I decided to try an image transfer over the Fantasy Film ironed to canvas.
I WORKED!

I saw a quote on line that became the inspriration for this piece:

"Butterflies add another dimension to the garden, for they are like dream flowers- childhood dreams- which have broken loose from their stalks and escaped into the sunshine"

M. Rothchild

Yes!! It just adds another dimension. Looks wonderful and I love the quote and inspiration you got from it.

Hi - found you thru' the image transfer group. Your work is inspirational! I work mainly with artist's acrylic paints (or photography) and haven't done any image transfer yet (besides something way back in the 60s!). Anyway, your use of Fantasy Film, embossing powders and so on make me want to incorporate some of those into my work.

Hi Annette- always good to hear from you. :)

It is an old fashioned gel medium transfer.
Put three coats of gel medium on image(printed with inkjet printer, Epson), letting dry thoroughly between coats.
When dry, wet paper, rub off- you end up with a transparent "skin" of gel medium with the image embedded in it it.

I adhered it to the canvas (over the Fantasy Film) with more gel medium. Let dry. Added some crackle finish to parts of it.
Let dry. Coated the whole thing with varnish and then added Glossy Accents to just the butterflies.

I'm pretty pleased with this one.
