Photoshop Playing

I have been taking an on line photography class from Jessica at Cre8it.com.

I love her classes. She is a wonderful teacher. She is so patient and has a knack for explaining everything in terms I can understand. And her photography is fantastic.

I got a shot I liked for compositing. I played around with it in Photoshop.
Not sure what the final piece will be- but I did a mock up of a card layout with it.

I love doing photomanipulations.

altered Book

I signed on for an altered book round robin on one of my yahoo groups.
I rarely do any type of swap or exchange or even the round robin sort of things, but this one intrigued me. They decided to do 'Dark" themes.
Mine is on nightmares.

I think I'm going to like working in the different books. The first one I received is for dark 'indulgences'. This should be fun. Still thinking on what to put in it.

I used some micaeous iron oxide and garnet gels by Golden on this- along with some walnut ink sprays and some other stuff. The figures are made with sticks and Sculpy polyclay. It is my first attempt at doing a niche in an altered book cover. I am happy with the way it turned out.
It took a lot of steps to get the look I wanted. I had to wait and let it dry between layers of stuff.
I usually go for whatever is fast, instant gratification gal here. But on this one I'm glad I had a little patience.

I love making pins. I rarely wear them- but I make a lot of them.

working with scraps

I hate to throw anything away. I have been working with scraps of paper, adding wire bits. I think I like playing with the wire.
I have a really cute mini anvil. :)

Class with Jeni Calkins

The class with Jeni was the most fun I've had in a long time. she is a delight to work with.

If you ever have a chance to take a class with her- do it!

I made this wonderful little book to journal my visit to Arizona.

I'll post some pics of the inside pages when I get it finished.

Need to work on it some more. :)

I took a lot of photos while I was there. Still need to do some Photoshop editing.

We also worked with polyclays and did some nifty embellishments. I really liked the different effects for finishes she taught us.

Aren't the fibers on this book gorgeous? Jeni brought a great selection of fibers for us to play with. I added charms made with some of the differrent techniques I tried out while I was there.

Gourds

I am in love with GOURDS!!!

They are such an amazing surface to work on.
They take any art medium you could use on wood. :) Alcohol inks and dyes are great. Acrylic paints are wonderful- you can add mica powders and other shiney stuff too.
You can stamp on them.
I even coated one with OPALS embossing enamels.

I haven't tried wood burning yet.

Sharpie Markers work great.

New stuff

Been doing some new stuff.

Took some classes in Arizona. Had a great time. Really love the necklace I did in Cory Celaya's class. I'm even reasonably happy with the beading I did on this.

Very much like the coloring. I need to play with this technique more. I've got a lot of new ideas for this. :)

I think I need to do some mini book covers in this manner. I love the weight of them and the vibrancy of the colors.
Using the clear (Franklin) OPALS embossing enamels really makes these POP!

Everyone thinks they are glass. they sure look and feel like glass.

Cory is such a fantastic artist. *sigh* I miss her. Can't wait to go back for another visit.
